At the NASCIO Midyear conference in Virginia last month, we talked to many state CIOs who echoed the importance of the priorities that make up the organization's top 10 list for 2017. It's a set of priorities that align closely with those gathered by the Center for Digital Government's* 2016 Digital States survey. Both lists rank cybersecurity as job No. 1, with high marks for cloud, as well as budget and cost control.
Also reflected on both lists, many CIOs are in the midst of consolidation efforts in which infrastructure and services are shared across agencies that used to operate independently. Here, Montana CIO Ron Baldwin talks about how consolidation is taking shape in his state.
